Canadian Tulip Festival

The Canadian Tulip Festival has existed for almost 60 years bringing upon years of celebration and events to the Nations Capital Region. As the event had started in 1945 as part of a gift giving thank you from Holland to Canada, tulips were presented to show the appreciation of the Canadian role during World War II in liberating the Netherlands. Over the years, the celebration became larger and attracted more people to attend. Now, over 300,000 tulips are planted each spring to commemorate this honour which has brought upon a tradition in catching an audience from all over the world. |

An annual event held each summer on Mooney's Bay Beach, rain or shine, with 180 teams challenging to be the number one Dragon Boat. The Rideau Valley Conservation Foundation (RVCF) protects the water resources from contamination and mis-use by preserving the Rideau Valley watershed with clean water and natural shorelines. The Monterey Inn Resort & Conference Centre contributes to this cause through involvement with the Ottawa stream watch program by analysis, and testing. Participating in these activities can prevent the Ottawa valley from contamination and help maintain a healthy environment. |
